Oscar Wei is the deputy chief economist at the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.), a
statewide trade organization of real estate professionals with more than 200,000 members. He
comanages the Research and Economic Department and oversees the operation of data analytics
and survey research within the division. As an economist at C.A.R., Oscar provides regular updates
on the economy, state and regional housing markets, consumer behaviors, and public policy issues.
He has written articles and reports on subjects including housing supply, affordability, mortgage
finance, homeownership, tax reform, and other topics related to the real estate industry. He
contributes frequently to C.A.R.’s weekly housing market update newsletter, Housing Matters
Podcast, and Housing Perspective. His work has been quoted in the Los Angeles Times, San
Francisco Chronicle, Kiplinger’s, NPR, KFI, as well as other media outlets.

Oscar has been with C.A.R. since 2003. Before that, he worked for a toy company as an analyst to
conduct research on identifying kids’ trends and evaluate their global implications on the toy
industry. Oscar has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley
and a master’s degree in economics from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Kurt J. Rankin
Senior Economist
The PNC Financial Services Group

 

Kurt J. Rankin is vice president and senior economist for The PNC Financial Services Group. He is responsible for contributing to PNC’s regional, national and international economic analysis, including coverage of metropolitan area economies throughout PNC’s midwestern footprint. Rankin focuses on econometric model design and improvement, and specifically with operations related to quality control and model validation.

Rankin joined PNC in June of 2010 after a 10-year career with Moody’s Analytics. In that position, he served as the lead analyst for operations design and implementation for a vast array of econometric modeling systems, from country-level macroeconomic models to concept-specific, highly customized forecasting projects. Rankin also helped to launch that firm’s Sydney, Australia economic research operations on-site. He was named vice president in February 2016 and senior economist in 2022.

He is past president of The Economic Club of Pittsburgh – the local chapter of National Association of Business Economics (NABE).

Rankin earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh, and his master’s degree in economics and finance from Venice International University (Venice, Italy). Rankin also holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix, with a concentration in global management.

Neil Collins has been the CEO of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® since 2013.  Prior to joining them he served as the CEO of the Campbell Chamber of Commerce.  Neil has a wealth of experience in operations, personnel management, and customer service.  He has been a small business owner as well as a General Manager for a multi-million dollar regional retailer.  Throughout his career, Neil has always valued the importance of  a robust database and has leveraged that data to grow his organization and improve efficiency. In the association world, Neil has been a part of three database conversions and is eager to share his experience with you today.
